Originally from Florida, Dr Jyotika “Joy” Dhawan received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Florida.  She went on to complete her DMD degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 2008.  Following dental school, Dr Dhawan practiced all over the east coast.  She has been fortunate enough to have worked with amazing leaders in the industry while practicing in New England.  She is looking forward to being able to incorporate her knowledge and experience of comprehensive, cosmetic and Oral Conscious Sedation dentistry into Emerald Family Dentistry in the near future.  She believes in creating a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere in order to deliver superior dental care. 

Dr Joy has served the community wherever she has practiced.  While in Massachusetts, she participated in “Dentistry from the Heart” for three years.  This is a day of delivering free dental care to patients who could otherwise not afford treatment.  She serves with the Baptist Healthcare Ministries of North Carolina and donates her time every December to providing the people of Ocracoke Island access to dental care as well as serving in the Ministry’s mobile dental unit, which travels all over the state. 

Dr Joy moved to North Carolina in late 2017 and became a homeowner in 2020.  During the pandemic year, she discovered a love for home renovation.  Ask her to show you some before and after pictures and you will be inspired!  She is also a dog lover and has been a “pom mom” to many pomeranians in her family.  Dr Joy loves being a Carolina girl and is very happy to have settled in the Triangle.
