A Florida native, Dr. Marisa Napoli received her Bachelor of Science degree from Florida Atlantic University. She went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Nova Southeastern College of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Napoli is committed to continuing education and takes many advanced courses each year to enhance her skills to better serve her patients. She’s also passionate about giving back to the community and volunteers hundreds of community service hours to provide dental care for those less fortunate.
After dental school, Dr. Napoli served patients for a decade in South Florida before relocating to North Carolina. (She calls this move, “one of the best decisions of my life!”)
She likes to keep her work environment easy-going and fun, and has been known to sing to her patients while working.
She loves spending time with her husband, Joshua, and her sons, Preston and Logan. Preston's birthstone is the emerald which led to the creation of Emerald Family Dentistry. Conveniently, Logan was also born in May! She enjoys trying new things – she learned to fly planes and earned her private pilot license and she's attempting to learn Italian. (She’s discovered it's a lot easier to fly a plane than learn a foreign language.) She also likes running, cooking, and reading.
Dr. Lavender Mehat was born and (mostly) raised in San Antonio, Texas, although she did spend 4 years attending a boarding school in Punjab, India. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees from St. Mary’s University, followed by her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Texas Health San Antonio.
As part of the warm and cheerful team, she loves hearing each patient’s unique story, believes in the importance of patient-centered care, and is committed to creating a collaborative environment to help patients play an active role in their healthcare.
Dr. Mehat went on to complete a general practice residency at The Cleveland Clinic where she was able to hone her skills and deepen her knowledge in advanced dental care.
She enjoys hiking, reading, and savoring a good cup of coffee. She is also a dog lover and welcomes all dog pictures and coffee shop recommendations. She is looking forward to discovering new trails in North Carolina and feels fortunate to see the next chapter of life unfold here.
Dr. Clanton grew up in a military family in Alabama. She earned undergraduate degrees in Biology and Nutrition from the University of Alabama, followed by a Master’s degree in Biology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Clanton then moved to Boston to attend Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree.
Rest easy, as Dr. Clanton is dedicated to providing a calm, welcoming experience where patients of all ages feel at ease. With an emphasis on personalized care and comprehensive oral health education, she strives for excellence in every aspect of treatment.
She then completed a General Practice Residency at UNC Hospital, with a focus on caring for patients with intellectual disabilities and complex medical needs.
She enjoys spending quality time with her family and her small dog. Her hobbies include crocheting, cooking, reading, and traveling - Florence, Italy, has been her favorite destination so far!
Emerald is the first dentist I've gone to where I'm not stressed about one thing or another when going, and can feel comfortable knowing that the whole team from front to back is amazing.
